I wish Pontianak (Indonesia) could go to KL and learn how to make roti canai properly. <sigh>
Compared to Jakarta, KL is an uber clean and uber modern city. What I was most impressed with was the public transportation system. Once again, Indonesia could take a course. My favorites were the super fast, a/c KL Monorail and the KTM Kommuter sleeper train we took to Pulau Langkawi (more on this to come).
Although simple, I was a very poor navigator around the Bukit Bintang area, and Ding and I had to backtrack a lot to get to and from our hostel.
Besides taking in the great food in KL, we did go to see some of the sights.
First stop was China Town where we visited the Sri Nahamanamman Temple followed by shopping in the
Central Market and at the shops on Jl Petaling.
Oh! KL has 1.5 million residents and Ding manages to run into the friend she had met on the plane.
The Petronas Towers (which almost made us miss our train) were worth a visit, although the video they showed was less so (got to love corporate marketing ploys disguised as educational tourism).
The final main sight we saw were the Batu Caves. We only went to Temple Cave (containing the Hind Shrine) and climbed the 272 steps to see it. The giant Murga statue provided a great photo op.
I want to go back to KL and eat my way through the city…mmmm….roti canai!

Ten years ago I set a goal to visit 30 countries by my 30th birthday. With no plan or country list to fulfill this goal, I decided to let life take me where it wished.
“See Simi Travel Blog | Adventures of a travel snob“, is just that. The account of an ex-20-something year old exploring the world, usually solo, and on a very limited budget.
Every other week I try to tell you a story about the friends, food, fun and fails I’ve had along the way.

Yeah it was nice having you here…
